Giving peace of mind

The Adelaide concussion clinic

This is the first private comprehensive clinic in Adelaide to manage concussion injuries from sporting injury. The serious short and long term consequences of concussion, a type of head injury, are increasingly being recognised.

The clinic focuses on providing initial assessment and management of concussion and also the longer-term problems that may occur. Appropriate advice about returning to work, school and back to sporting activities is given.

The clinic is a collaborative effort between Wakefield Sports + Exercise Medicine Clinic and Adelaide NeuroSpine and Brain. The Wakefield Sports + Exercise Medicine Clinic doctors are already very experienced in dealing with concussion following sporting injury, but now in collaboration with neurosurgeon Dr Matthew McDonald, a comprehensive service is available to give you peace of mind.

Patient’s will also have early access to MRI if necessary, as well as neuropsychological assessment and rehabilitation. Within the next 12 months we also plan to add functional MRI assessments. This will better detect cognitive deficits and help tailor rehabilitation.
