Volunteer

We are grateful to the diverse network of Calvary volunteers who dedicate their time to enhance the care we offer our patients, residents, their families, friends and the community.

Calvary is an inclusive organisation where everyone is welcome. Volunteers must be respectful of others' values and beliefs.

During the onboarding process, we'll take the time to get to know each volunteer as an individual, your interests and experience, to ensure you are matched to services that draw on these skills.

Once the application and interview process is complete, prospective volunteers attend an orientation program including mandatory fire safety, manual handling and infection control training, and receive an induction into the role they will perform. References, a police check, and a working with children check are required, at no cost to the individual.

Depending on the service and location, responsibilities can include:
  • Café and/or shop assistance
  • Filing, archiving or administrative
  • Magazine distribution to patients
  • Meet & greet of patients and guests
  • Patient companionship
  • Resident entertainment and activities
  • Support on day trips and outings
