Calvary joins Retirement Living Council
Calvary’s retirement living portfolio includes a range of one, two, and three-bedroom Independent Living Units (ILUs) and apartments across 17 sites in Australian Capital Territory, New South Wales, South Australia, Tasmania and Victoria.
Calvary’s Strategic Operations & Performance – Retirement Living, Mark Eagleston, said being a member of the RLC was an important step in Calvary’s commitment to advocating for safe and quality retirement living options for older Australians.
“To remain relevant and viable in this changing landscape of health and ageing, combined with policy changes and funding models, Calvary is innovating its services and models of care to directly respond to the needs of our residents,” said Mr Eagleston.
“Calvary’s expansive portfolio across hospitals and aged care nationally means we offer the RLC a unique perspective on how to shape the sector’s offering for providers and older Australians.”
This year Calvary launched its refreshed strategic vision to deliver great, connected care. This will see the organisation embrace opportunities that provide the people we care for with more choice, better access and equity.
“More and more older Australians are looking to age in place and by co-locating retirement living, home care and aged care, Calvary can create a built-in community of peers, fostering social interaction and a sense of belonging.”
Calvary is also enhancing how it delivers contemporary connected care across multiple sites across a community and Mr Eagleston said being an active member of the RLC was directly related to Calvary’s vision to grow the number of older Australians choosing to call a retirement village home.
“We look forward to contributing to the RLC’s initiatives to ensure the long-term viability of the sector,” he said.
The Retirement Living Council (RLC) is the national leadership group for the retirement living sector, championing policies that deliver age-friendly homes and better services in retirement communities across Australia.
RLC Executive Director, Daniel Gannon, said retirement living played an important role in addressing the ageing population, housing supply and demand for aged care services.
“Having Calvary Health Care around the table to help drive the reforms and growth we need is energising and reinforces the important work we are leading.
“We look forward to working with the Calvary Health Care team to unleash the age-friendly, affordable and care-focused communities that Australians so desperately need,” Mr Gannon said.
