Calvary St Francis Volunteer Acknowledged at 2016 Shortland Volunteer Awards
The 2016 Shortland Volunteer Awards call on community members to nominate exceptional volunteers who live in the Shortland Electorate and/or donate their time to assist not-for-profit organisations in the Shortland Electorate.
Christina was awarded with a certificate of appreciation by the Federal Member of Shortland Pat Conroy MP at a ceremony in December.
Christina first started volunteering at Calvary St Francis to support her elderly neighbour who had moved in. She now attends the facility every day and Leisure and Lifestyle Officer Jayne Gill said “Christina is a valuable member of our St Francis family”.
Christina helps support Calvary St Francis by running sing-a-longs, foot spa afternoons, high teas, plays bingo, assists with bus trips and donates her time to one on one sessions with residents. She also runs the shopping trolley every Thursday. Jayne emphasised “Our residents look forward to seeing her”. “Christina always has a ‘have a go’ attitude and is more than happy to help with anything”.
Well done to Christina on her achievement.
