Medical officers: consultants (senior doctors in a specialty), registrars, and junior medical officers.

Allied health team: physiotherapists, dietitians, occupational therapists, social workers, speech pathologists, psychologists, pastoral care, pharmacists, music therapists, bereavement counsellors.
Patient referral
For patients currently in another hospital requiring inpatient admission, your referral will be made by your health care provider detailing your current medical history and condition. For people not currently admitted in a hospital, and based in the community, your referral will be made by your GP/specialist including a detailed medical letter. Please note: The urgency of your appointment is determined by your general practitioner or specialist.

The Learning and Development Centre at CHCB continues to develop its profile as a leader in specialist palliative care and progressive neurological training, for staff and practitioners across the state.
Each year we increase the number of training opportunities we provide, as well as:
• Improving access to training through eLearning
• Delivering high-quality clinical placements
• Building the capacity of Nursing across Victoria
• Running a Graduate Nurse Program that supports student transition to interdisciplinary model
• Up-skilling staff through the Clinical Support Nurse Role
Program of Experience in the Palliative Approach (PEPA)
Palliative Care training for General Practitioners and Practice Managers
Calvary Health Care Bethlehem runs Palliative Care education sessions for General Practitioners, and Practice Managers throughout the year, in collaboration with Program of Experience in the Palliative Approach (PEPA).
We are excited to confirm that our collaboration with PEPA continues in 2024 with a full year of courses planned! The interactive education sessions will continue to utilise group discussion and case studies to provide a greater understanding of palliative care.

We now provide Palliative Care Training in community health services – a new fee-for-service
In response to requests for in-house training, the Learning and Development Centre at Calvary Health Care Bethlehem has developed a series of short training modules to assist RACFs to support the implementation of the palliative approach.
Training can be arranged on a fee-for service basis and according to the needs of the facility.

Improved access to training through eLearning
Students are able to access the eLearning platform from any computer with an internet connection. This allows students to adequately prepare for their placement prior to commencing at our health service. The eLearning platform provides staff with flexibility and mobility on when and where they access learning materials.
Delivering high-quality clinical placements
This year our health service supported a range of Clinical Placements for visiting undergraduate and postgraduate students.
The Best Practice Clinical Learning Environment (BPCLE) Framework was deployed by Calvary Health Care Bethlehem to coordinate and deliver high-quality clinical placements for our students.
