About this hospital

Formerly owned by St Luke’s Health Fund, St Luke’s Hospital became part of the Calvary group in 2004.

At St Luke’s Hospital, we are the leading provider of palliative and end-of-life care across the north of Tasmania and are the only private mental health facility in Northern Tasmania that offers a range of holistic and innovative treatment programs for inpatients and outpatients.

Our three operating theatres and a day procedure unit provide day and overnight surgical medical services across a broad range of specialties including orthopedics (our largest specialty), ENT surgery and dental surgery. Other services include palliative care, chemotherapy, general medical services, mental health care and sleep studies.

Calvary St Luke’s Hospital is affiliated with the University of Tasmania, and is a first choice placement for a variety of students.

Community advisory group

The Community advisory group assists the CEO with, and provides advice on, community and stakeholder engagement. Through this group local consumers and communities can help us to make the best decisions when it comes to planning our services. Representatives are drawn from a broad cross section of the community and meet with Calvary St Luke’s Hospital executives on a regular basis.

The Calvary Community Council also manage our community benefit programs which include Community Council Grants for local community projects that prioritise the health needs of vulnerable and marginalised Tasmanians.
