Facilities

Our hospital offers a range of amenities to ensure comfort and convenience for both patients and visitors.

Calvary Health Care Bethlehem has been designed so that everyone can easily access our facilities, using inclined walkways and ramps throughout.

We have clear, straightforward signage throughout the hospital to make it easier to find your way around. The signage uses contrasting colours to help people with impaired vision.

Wheelchairs are available for use while at the hospital If you need a wheelchair, we’ll provide you with one at admission or you can get help at the main reception.

There are disabled parking spaces at the top of the car park to the right of the front entrance.

Tap and go is available at most pay points across Calvary Kooyong Precinct.

The nearest ATMs are at the BP service station on the corner of North and Hawthorn Roads, or the BP service station on the corner of North Road and Nepean Highway.

We provide all patients with free-to-air television at their bedside and there’s no charge for this service.

Foxtel is available in the Jacaranda Room on St Teresa’s Ward.

To use the hospital phone, dial 0 before the phone number.

Catholic mass is generally celebrated on the second Tuesday of every month. Check with the Mission Coordinator for dates.

There are a number of florists located within the local area. The closest is Melbourne Florist at 629 Hawthorn Road, Brighton East - 03 9578 9982

Vases are available on the ward. Please ask the Ward Secretary or Nursing Staff for assistance.

Hand and Foot massage volunteers attend the hospital regularly to provide support and comfort to patients.

The massages are free and very popular with Calvary Health Care Bethlehem patients.

Newspapers and magazines can be ordered via the Ward Secretary for a small cost.

At Calvary Health Care Bethlehem we offer compassionate emotional support and spiritual care for you, your family and friends. Our pastoral care program acknowledges your beliefs, important relationships and all that is meaningful for you. It affirms your intrinsic value as a person.

Pastoral care can help if you are:

  • Suffering anxiety or emotional distress

  • Experiencing a time of crisis

  • Feeling lonely or isolated

  • Grieving a loss

  • Making important decisions

  • Needing support with your religious/spiritual practice

  • Preparing for death

If you would like a visit from pastoral care please ask a staff member.

The onsite dispensing pharmacy at Calvary Health Care Bethlehem will provide discharged patients with a short supply of their prescribed medications. The pharmacy is not open to the general public.

Nearest chemist

The closest chemist is Gardenvale Chemist on the Nepean Highway at the bottom of Martin Street at 4/170 Martin Street, Brighton.

Patients may use their mobile phone while at the hospital.

Please be considerate of other patients, and keep call volume, duration and frequency to a minimum.

A podiatrist visit can be arranged via the hospital at the patient’s expense. Please discuss with Nursing Staff or the Ward Secretary.

Visitor lounge

A visitor’s Lounge is available for patients and visitors to use at any time. The room is located on St Teresa’ ward just beyond the front reception desk.

The room offers a collection of books and information pamphlets in many languages. Access to a computer, Internet, TV and DVD player is available.

The room also features a small children’s play area with children’s books available.

Visitor accommodation

In special circumstances there may be limited accommodation for family or friends at the hospital. Queries should be directed to the Nurse Unit manager or Ward Secretary.
