Facilities

We offer a range of amenities for both patients and visitors, including:

Calvary Health Care Kogarah has been designed so that everyone can easily access our facilities, using inclined walkways and ramps throughout. All levels of our hospital are accessible by lifts.

We have clear, straightforward signage throughout the hospital to make it easier to find your way around. The signage uses contrasting colours to help people with impaired vision.

Wheelchairs are available for use while at the hospital.

Café and vending machines

The café is located on the ground floor.

Opening hours are 7am to 3.30pm, Monday to Friday and 9am to 2pm Saturday.

Snack and drink vending machines are located throughout the hospital and are available 24 hours a day.

Gift shop

“The Little Shop”, operated by the Calvary Kogarah Auxiliary, is open daily between 10am – 3pm and sells cards, toiletries and gifts.

The Chapel of the Resurrection at Calvary Health Care Kogarah is open during daylight hours and provides a calm and peaceful place for all patients, staff and visitors. People of all faiths are welcome to visit the chapel.

A multi –faith room is located in the west wing on the 2nd floor and is open 24 hours a day. Patients, carers and staff of all faiths are welcome to pray and spend some time there.

The Calvary Kogarah pastoral care team is available to support requests for spiritual care. Your local minister of religion is welcome to visit during your stay.

Calvary Health Care Kogarah has a 35 square metre hydrotherapy pool situated in the day rehabilitation unit (DRU).

The hydrotherapy pool is for use by inpatient, day rehabilitation and community patients. This therapy in the pool is supported by a team of dedicated and experienced staff including physiotherapists, allied health assistants and exercise physiologists.

Your care team will discuss options for hydrotherapy treatment.

Hand and foot massage volunteers attend the hospital regularly to provide support and comfort to patients. The massages are freely given and very popular with the patients, adding to the holistic care offered at Calvary Health Care Kogarah.

At Calvary Health Care Kogarah, we understand that a patient is more than just their diagnosis and symptoms. Our Pastoral Care professionals specialise in caring for the emotional and spiritual needs of patients, families and staff in our hospital. Pastoral Care work closely with doctors, nurses, allied health and other staff. Pastoral Care is part of Calvary Health Care Kogarah’s comprehensive approach to care.

What if I’m not religious? Spirituality is more than just religion. Spirituality is at the core of every person – that part of us which gives our life meaning and connection. Some people express their spirituality through religion. Others may find meaning and purpose through nature, the arts or their relationships and community groups.

Calvary Health Care Kogarah embraces and celebrates the diversity of our community. A Multi-Faith Room is available on the second floor. Our Chapel is located beside our garden and is open during business hours. Both are available to all for prayer or quiet reflection.

If you would like a visit from the Pastoral Care Team during your stay, please ask a staff member to contact us.

Each bed has a small set of drawers next to it for your personal belongings. There is not much room though, so please don’t bring too many things with you.

All our rooms have the following features and facilities:

  • Adjustable bed

  • Bedside phone

  • Ensuite

  • Small set of drawers for personal belongings

  • We provide all patients with free-to-air television at their bedside.

  • Mini Fridge (single rooms)

At times, based on clinical needs, patients may be relocated within their ward or transferred to another ward to continue their care.

Most patients in Calvary Health Care Kogarah will be accommodated in a share room. Most rooms are shared between two patients, but there are also a number of four-share rooms.

Medications brought into the hospital must be given to the nurse or doctor. After review, the doctor will return these medications to a member of your family or carer and these must be taken home. The hospital supplies the generic brands of all medications that may be prescribed for you.

Calvary Health Care Kogarah pharmacy department only provides medications for inpatients as well as some regular outpatients, however, we do not offer prescription services to the public.

Patients may use their mobile phone while at the hospital.

Please be considerate of other patients, and keep call volume, duration and frequency to a minimum.

Visitor lounge areas are located throughout the hospital.
