Located on site at Calvary Riverina Hospital is the Riverina Cancer Care Centre which provides a comprehensive range of cancer services, diagnosis and treatment including chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Calvary Riverina Hospital provides a range of complex cancer surgery and inpatient care which compliments the services provided by the Riverina Cancer Care Centre.

BreastScreen NSW

BreastScreen NSW is a government funded program, which provides a free screening mammogram every two years to women aged 50-74 throughout NSW.

BreastScreen NSW is part of BreastScreen Australia, a joint Commonwealth, State and Territory program with high quality standards.

Calvary Riverina Hospital provides comprehensive drug and alcohol withdrawal and rehabilitation programs. These assist people experiencing addiction or recovering from a dependency on alcohol or drugs.

The Calvary Riverina Drug and Alcohol Centre is situated on site adjacent to the hospital. The centre is a dual diagnosis unit providing drug and alcohol treatment services reducing drug related harm for individuals, families and communities.

The service identifies and treats clients with complex health and social needs with supportive effective mental health interventions.

Specific services include:

  • Inpatient withdrawal

  • Residential treatment

  • Outpatient/day programs

  • Home detoxification and transitions support services

  • Mental health and family services

Intensive Care at Calvary Riverina Hospital provides high acuity specialised care for patients with serious and or unstable medical and surgical conditions. This unit supports ventilated intensive care patients, critically ill patients requiring high level nursing and medical care and step down care.

These services are supported by 24/7 medical staff on site, Intensive Care Specialists on call and other specialist medical practitioners.

Critical Care Services include:

  • Invasive and non invasive mechanical ventiliation

  • Acute Coronary care

  • Haemodialysis

  • Respiratory medicine

  • Major post operative general surgery

  • Other critical life threatening illnesses.

The Mary Potter Palliative Care Unit provides inpatient palliative care services and support to public and private patients. This service is supported by a multidisciplinary team of nursing, medical and allied health practitioners who provide much needed specialist care to patients who are nearing end of life. Services include:

  • Acute palliative care assessment

  • Medication management including pain and symptom management

  • Short term respite care

  • General clinical/nursing care

  • Social work consultation and support

Calvary Riverina Hospital’s Maternity Unit offers:

The Calvary Riverina Hospital pre-admission clinic is a free service, which provides patients with information and support. Our goal is to better understand your needs and ensure you have a positive stay with us.

You may be asked to attend a pre-admission clinic appointment. Pre-admission is an important part of your hospital care and helps us further prepare for your stay.

The clinic is staffed by experienced registered nurses who will:

  • Discuss your care before and after surgery

  • Check your health history and complete other admission paperwork

  • Provide you with any necessary pre-operative instructions

  • Check you have had any tests ordered by your doctor

  • Commence discharge planning to help plan for your return home

  • Answer any questions you may have

  • This means not only do you know what to expect whilst in hospital but ensures your admission on the day of your surgery is well planned, relaxed, and not rushed.

We care about your physical, spiritual and emotional needs. These support services are available to our patients as part of our holistic care.

When visiting the hospital

If you have a planned admission, you will have the opportunity to describe your disability and appropriate arrangements can be included in your admission process.

During your admission members of our allied health service may join the team providing your care. Your team will talk with you about interim or long-term services to assist with any temporary disability or enduring issues arising from your treatment or pre-existing condition.

Referrals will be provided to agencies that can assist with disability support services.


Disability support at home

Calvary Home Care provides a range of disability services in the home. We support disabled children, adults and older people to be as independent as possible and become actively involved in their local community.

Calvary Home Care can also help with managing Individual Support Package (ISP) and funding allocations.

At Calvary, we can help with the practical arrangements involved in returning home from hospital. We can also support you during your recovery.

Calvary Home Care

Calvary Home Care’s Hospital to Home Service can be provided under a government subsidised support package (if you’re eligible), delivered on a private basis, or as a combination of the two.

Calvary Home Care can help with everyday tasks to help you recover safely and quickly. It is also useful to consider Home Care services if you have carer, who may not be able to safely move or bathe you; may need a break; or may need time away from home to do other things.

Calvary Home Care Services include:

  • Transport to and from hospital appointments and for everyday tasks

  • Cooking and grocery shopping

  • Dressing and showering

  • Cleaning and household maintenance

  • Respite care

We offer compassionate emotional support and spiritual care for you, your family and friends. Our pastoral care service acknowledges your beliefs, important relationships and all that is meaningful for you. It affirms your intrinsic value as a person.

Pastoral care can help if you are:

  • Emotionally distressed

  • Struggling with a sense of purpose or meaning

  • Experiencing a time of crisis

  • Feeling lonely or isolated

  • Grieving a loss

  • Making important decisions

  • Needing support with your religious/spiritual practice

  • Wishing to contact a priest or minister of religion

  • Preparing for death

If you would like a visit from pastoral care during your stay, please ask a staff member.

Pharmaceuticial services are provided by HPS Pharmaceuticials who are an external provider.

The pharmacy only provides medications for hospital inpatients. We do not offer a prescription service to the public.

Please note: It’s important that patients bring their current medications and prescriptions when they are admitted to hospital.

Our team will work with you to plan for the respite care you require. Respite care is provided as;

  • nursing support for a patient when coming home from hospital

  • short term nursing care in or outside the home

  • a support service for carers. It provides time away from their carer role confident that their loved one is being looked after.

Calvary Home Care

Where appropriate, we may refer you to our Calvary Home Care services. Calvary Home Care provides a range of respite options available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Services can be delivered in the home or a support worker can accompany the family member while the carer takes a break.

Tests and diagnostic services

Diagnostic services cover a range of scans, x-rays and laboratory tests used by specialists to determine the cause of an illness.

Our onsite services are provided by I-Med and include diagnostic, inpatient and cardiac rehabilitation services.

At Calvary Hospital Riverina we have an on-site pathology laboratory and collection centre provided by Douglass Hanly Moir Pathology. These services are provided as a part of the treatment program for admitted patients as well as for the general community.

We utilise the on-site Imaging Services of I-Med Radiology Network. These services are provided as part of the treatment program for admitted patients as well as for the general community.

I-Med Radiology Network offers a comprehensive range of medical imaging services from general x-ray procedures, through to CT, MRI, ultrasound, mammography, angiography, fluoroscopy, bone mineral densitometry, interventional procedures, nuclear medicine, PET scanning and dental imaging.
