Facilities
Our hospital offers a range of amenities to ensure comfort and convenience for both patients and visitors.
Calvary St John’s Hospital has been designed so that everyone can easily access our facilities, using inclined walkways and ramps throughout. All levels of our hospital are accessible by lifts.
We have clear, straightforward signage throughout the hospital to make it easier to find your way around. The signage uses contrasting colours to help people with impaired vision.
Wheelchairs are available for use while at the hospital. If you need a wheelchair, we will provide you with one on Admission or you can get help at the main reception area.
If you’re in the car park and need a wheelchair, or assistance getting to or from your appointment contact reception on 03 6223 7444 for help.

Café
The Hospital Kiosk is located on the ground floor of Calvary St John’s Hospital.
Monday to Friday, 9am to 3pm, closed weekends and public holidays.
Vending machines
A vending machine is located on the Ground Floor near Simpson Unit.
Newspaper and magazines
Free magazines are available via our magazine volunteers.
You can buy newspapers and magazines at The Hospital Kiosk.
Florist
Flowers are available for purchase from the Hospital Kiosk on the ground floor.
The chapel at Calvary St John’s Hospital is open at all times, and provides a calm and restful environment for all patients and visitors. People of all faiths and none can visit the Chapel.
Mass for Catholics is celebrated on Fridays at 10am and an Anglican Eucharist is celebrated every Wednesday at 12 o’clock.
The Chapel is located on the ground floor.

The outdoor area attached to Gibson has lovely park benches and a wonderful and calm outlook. Please feel free to use this space.
If you’re coming in for an overnight (or longer) stay, we have a range of private shared and single rooms available. Your preferred accommodation may not be immediately available, but we’ll arrange a transfer to your requested accommodation as soon as we can.

Bedside entertainment
We provide all patients with radios and free-to-air televisions at their bedside. There’s no charge for this service.
The State Government’s Patient Travel Assistance Scheme (PTAS) provides financial help with travel and/or accommodation costs to Tasmanian residents who need to travel:
more than 50 km (one way) to the nearest oncology or dialysis treatment centre
more than 75 km (one way) to the nearest appropriate specialist medical service
more than 75 km (one way) to access lymphoedema treatment
The dispensing pharmacy for Calvary St John’s Hospital is located at Calvary Lenah Valley Hospital and they will provide discharged patients with a short supply of their prescribed medications.
The pharmacy is owned and operated by HPS Pharmacies.
Patients may use their mobile phone while at the hospital.
Please be considerate of other patients, and keep call volume, duration and frequency to a minimum.
A post box is located outside the main entrance of Calvary St John’s reception. The post box is cleared daily.

There are a range of visitor lounges available on each floor. Please ask staff to direct you to these areas.

Free Wi-Fi is available for all patients.
