About this hospital
Calvary Lenah Valley is the largest private hospital in Tasmania. Situated five minutes from the heart of the city of Hobart with spectacular views over greater Hobart, we are a leader in neurosurgery, orthopaedics, urology, gynaecology, surgical and medical care.
We have a modern maternity and women’s health unit, endoscopy unit, critical care unit, intensive care unit and an accident and emergency department (see here for hours).
Calvary Lenah Valley also has an on-site pharmacy and in-patient clinical pharmacy services, as well as a pathology and radiology departments onsite that offers CT scans, MRI and nuclear medicine.
Founded by the Sisters of the Little Company of Mary in 1938, Calvary Lenah Valley is a Catholic not-for-profit organisation, investing its returns to improve and develop facilities, staff and services for the continuing benefit of the community.
Community councils
Calvary Lenah Valley Hospital has two community representative groups:
1. Calvary Community Council
The Calvary Community Council is a committee of community volunteers who meet regularly to manage our community benefit programs. These programs include: Community Council Grants which provide funding for local community projects who prioritise the health needs of vulnerable and marginalised Tasmanians and The Mary Potter Foundation which provides funding of hospital care for members of the community who experience economic hardship.
2. Calvary Advisory Group
The Community Advisory Council Group assists the General Manager with, and provides advice on, community and stakeholder engagement. Through this group local consumers and communities can help us to make the best decisions when it comes to planning our services. Representatives are drawn from a broad cross section of the community and meet with Calvary Lenah Valley Hospital executives on a regular basis.
You matter. We care about you.
