Travelling to and from Calvary Mater Newcastle is easy for patients, visitors, staff and volunteers. Our hospital is located close to public transport facilities and has parking.
Patient drop-off
There are patient set down and pick up areas at the Main Entrance, Platt Street Entrance, Melanoma Unit and Hospice at Calvary Mater Newcastle. Parking is not allowed in these locations, so please move your vehicle after the patient has safely arrived.
Parking information
A paid car park ticketing system is in place for patients and visitors of Calvary Mater Newcastle and Hunter New England Local Health District’s Mater Mental Health Centre. Patient and visitor parking is available in Platt Street Car Park P1, Edith Street Car Park P2 and Villa Road Car Park P3. Allocated disabled parks are available in all patient and visitor car parks. Short-term parking is available outside the Main Entrance. At entry to the car parks you will be required to take a ticket at the boom gate. Please remember to take your ticket with you to pay prior to leaving. The hospital does not accept responsibility for any loss or damage to cars or other property. You are advised to take responsible security measures such as locking your car and concealing or removing valuables.
Payment options
The pay station will accept payment by cash, credit card or EFTPOS. You can also pay by credit card at the boom gate. The three pay stations are located: Level 3 main foyer opposite the Information Desk Level 2 corridor near the entrance to Radiation Oncology By the Hospice Reception Desk Use our map to find our car parking areas. Car park rates/concession rates
Concession rates are available for eligible patients and their carers who require regular or long-term hospitalisation or treatment. Please refer to the concessions leaflet for available here for further details regarding eligibility. If eligible for a concession, please validate your ticket at one of five locations throughout the hospital prior to payment:
Level 3 main foyer opposite the Information Desk
Calvary Mater Newcastle Emergency Department Admissions (afterhours and weekend)
Level 2 corridor opposite the entrance to Radiation Oncology
By the Hospice Reception Desk
Mater Mental Health Centre Reception Desk (Monday to Friday, 7am-8:30pm, Saturday and Sunday, 8am-8:30pm)

Disability parking bays can be found in every car park and are located closest to the pedestrian access ways.
Please follow the disabled access signs to access the hospital.
If you are in the car park and need assistance getting to or from the hospital, please call 02 4921 1211.
Motorbike parking bays and bicycle racks are located in Car Park P2 (accessed via Edith Street).
Please ensure your bicycle is secured and does not cause access issues for other people.
Staff at Calvary Mater Newcastle are able to arrange a taxi on request.
